Dinner and Presentation with Lisa Books-Williams

This coming Wednesday evening, June 8 at 6 pm, at the Opera Plaza Community Room, 601 Van Ness, San Francisco, acclaimed vegan chef, Lisa Books-Williams, will give a presentation entitled, "My Favorite 'F' word...FIBER, that is." She will talk about gut health, the types of fiber, the benefits of fiber, why we need it and how to get it. She will also talk about how the lack of fiber can lead to depression, cancer, heart attack, stoke, seizure and a myriad of of other diseases. As a bonus, Lisa will bring samples of some of her fiber rich recipes that will be featured in her upcoming cook and un-cookbook that will be published this winter.

Lisa Books-Williams is an award-winning raw food chef and a certified Green Chef instructor through Greenivore. Lisa enjoys promoting the concept of "joyful eating" and has been conducting living foods preparation and vegan cooking classes through her company Holistic Therapeutic Care in the Pleasanton, CA and surrounding areas for the past seven years. Lisa also founded the Tri-Valley Vegetarian Society and hosts regular potlucks and events. Additionally, Lisa is a nationally Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist and has brought therapeutic vegan cooking classes and raw/"live" food preparation classes to persons with disabilities in institutionalized care and at-risk youth. As for the event, you will first enjoy a FABULOUS vegan dinner, including both raw foods and prepared dishes. The dinner is carefully planned by a certified Nutrition Consultant, with emphasis on providing a nutritionally balanced, complete meal. Patricia Allen Koot, the chef and nutritionist, has developed a reputation in the Bay Area as preparing outstanding vegan dishes which are true flavor sensations AND totally health-supporting.

The dinner is all you can eat, as long as the food lasts. RSVP, and arrive on time. Any food remaining after all have enjoyed, may be taken home in containers. Take some home for the rest of the week!

A fifteen dollar ($15.00) requested minimum donation covers the all you can eat vegan dinner AND the presentation which follows. That is possible because both chefs, Patricia and Lisa, are volunteering their time. Funds received go toward facility rental, food, transport and related costs.
